Mr. Erikson was very much influenced by Sigmund Freud who discussed the psycho-sexual stages. Erik Erikson decided to study the stages of psychosocial. He was an ego psychologist. Which lead to him emphasizing society and cultures. Erikson believes that establishing trust in others, and having to find your identity in society.
By passing the Freudian thoughts, Erikson presented a lifespan model of development. Which ended up with 8 stages of psychosocial development.
