Lev Vygotsky (b. November 5, 1896- d. June 11, 1934) was a Russian Psychologist that had plenty of ideas that greatly influenced the many beliefs and understandings, when discussing theories of Child Development.
Social Interaction
Vygotsky's theory chosen the fundamental role in interaction in the development of cognition. In many of theories, Vygotsky believed "Learning in a necessary and universal aspect of the process of developing culturally organized, specifically human psychological function."
Like Piaget, Vygotsky claimed that infants are born with the basic materials/abilities for things such as Intellectual Development, while Piaget focuses on motor reflexes and sensory abilities.
Lev Vygotsky refers to elementary mental functions.
B.) Acoustic (sound)
C.) Semantic (meaning)
Vygotsky further examinations that these interactions will develop at a higher level due to age and maturity of a person. That the sociocultural environment has much to do with the development and effective mental toughness of an individual.

- Attention- The belief that people had Selective Attention, which consist of someone wanting listen to and pays close attention to what they are saying. An then the individual, not wanting to listen given them the right to pay attention to the speaker or distancing off and ignoring them.
- Sensation - By which our senses combine information and send it to the brain. A large amount of the information gathered is sensed at one moment a time. These types of things include: Room temperature, someone talking, and the brightness of light in an area.
- Perception- When the information that is directly presented in the stimulus.
- Memory- There are three main ways in which information can be changed, for which consist of these.

Zone Of Proximal Development
Vygotsky Believed that young children are curious and are actively involved in their own learning. That the discovery and development of new understanding played a major role in a child's development in the near future.
Allowing the child to develop skills they will use on their own- developing their mental functions.
Vygotsky illustrates the (ZPD) as the area where the most sensitive instruction or guidance should be given.
However, having other beliefs in his work he determined that language develops from social interactions for communication purposes. He also viewed language as a “man's greatest tool”.
According to Vygotsky language plays 2 important roles in cognitive development. He first off began stating that "it is the main means by which adults transmit information to children" and later on concluded that "Language itself becomes a very powerful tool of intellectual adaptation".
